grizwilson Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Could some of the accesiories be removed to lower price? I plan on being up for St. Pat's “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Gavin Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 They are absolute pigs to car top..but probably not bad with a bit of practice..Lots of weight in the bow. I'm out. Will wait for a better deal.
Members River Smallie Posted February 28, 2014 Author Members Posted February 28, 2014 Question: why are you selling your prized Jackson Coosa, Jackson? Follow-up question to above question: good god man, you are on your 3rd Coosa, please tell me you are not selling this so you can be on your 4th Coosa. What are you doing to the Coosa's? eating them? or outfitting a small navy of coosa-fishers? or do you have them in different colors to match your particular mood? Finally - how much for the parasol umbrella accessory shown in picture # 2 It hurts to sell, but its the deal I had to make with my wife so I could order a new drift boat. Yes, I am eating them......another deal with my wife for the drift boat........She tells me that I need to lose 30 pounds. The parasol is $925 and it comes with a free Coosa.
Members River Smallie Posted February 28, 2014 Author Members Posted February 28, 2014 LOL! Good questions. Sounds like you've spent more time outfitting & polishing that boat than you have fishing it. Wouldn't mind having one out back with the rest. $925 is a bit steep for a used boat though..Looks like Soulard or St. Louis Hills...in my hood but gotta check my cash on hand. I probably have spent more time outfitting and polishing than fishing. My wife and kids love to river fish as well, so usually when we go I take the tandem kayak so my 12 year old daughter can fish out of the front. Therefore, I only get to take this boat when I am solo or with friends. I work in the Soulard area, so that is what I used for the listing. Its close to a new boat (I think I paid about $1100 + $110 in tax for it Alpine Shop last year), then added the accessories which is where I cam up with the $925 number. Although not shown the boat will come with (1) Scotty Anchor Lock for the front anchor, (1) front folding anchor, (2) Scotty 280 rod holders, (2) Scotty Orca 400 rod holders, (2) retractable dog leases, (1) Drag Chain (double in bicycle tube), (1) Scotty Gimbal Mount, (1) Scotty Gear Head, (1) Scotty Adjustable Extension, and (1) Yak Attack Pan Fish Camera Pole. Along with the Ram mount and 4 Talon mounts the number seems fair to me. I may even throw in a day of fishing from the drift boat, lunch, beverages and flies or lures with the sale.
Members River Smallie Posted February 28, 2014 Author Members Posted February 28, 2014 How do you carry and transport one of those bad boys? It only weighs a few more pounds than my canoe, but the canoe is pretty easy to lift up on top of my car because I can get under it and walk it on holding the gunwales. I see the handles on the Coosa, but they don't look to be too helpful for getting on a car. I know I'd have to visit Yakima (yet again) and buy something different. I usually transport it on a Thule XSporter in the bed of my truck, but have car topped it as well. As long as you place a moving blanket on the painted surface and/or glass of your car you can just push it up into the saddles. If you need a rack I have a Yakima car top rack (towers, crossbars and locks) with the wind deflector that I would throw in for the $925. You would still have to buy the saddles and the fit clips (unless you drive a Passat).

I plan on being up for St. Pat's I may consider holding on to the accessories for a lower price in a few weeks, but for now I would like to keep it as a package deal.
Justin Spencer Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 A guided driftboat trip is easily $300 so that knocks the price back to $625 if you wanted a fishing trip anyway, seems like a deal! Members River Smallie Posted February 28, 2014 Author Members Posted February 28, 2014 That's retail, and with a guide that already knows how to drive a drift boat. C'mon, man I kind of know how to drive a drift boat, I kind of know how to catch fish, I am an absolute expert at beer drinking, I am an absolute expert at having a good time on the river. I don't know what that retails for, but its a guaranteed adventure.
