Wayne SW/MO Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Great, we have a severe thunderstorm warning with quarter size hail. Where's spring? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Quillback Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Just some light snow now, which I can deal with. It's looking like the freezing rain has missed us.
LittleRedFisherman Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 My deck is starting to glaze over here, we are expected to get half to possibly one inch of ice here before it turns to sleet. More about 50 miles south. Got my generator ready just in case. Seems like it's getting colder faster than they predicted here, so hoping it will be more sleet and snow. Everybody be safe out there! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
ness Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Maybe an inch or two of snow here. 3 degrees. Supposed to only be another inch or so. John
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 LRF is it heavily treed where you are at? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Bill Anderson Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Right now here in Monett, in Barry County, in SW Missouri, it's 16 degrees with about an inch and a half of ice and snow on the ground and light snow flurries. When the sleet hit at 3 a.m., there was a lot of thunder, but fortunately, the air temperature was 26 and the sleet did not stick to anything except the ground; our trees and power lines don't have any ice coating. It'll hit ZERO tonight. I'm sure sick of this long, cold winter. It's supposed to be back in the 50s after next weekend, and maybe Spring will finally begin to exert itself and I can think about some fishing. I just don't enjoy wading in subfreezing temps any more. I moved here from Sarasota, Florida four years ago--wife got transferred, I'm retired. I'm still in a bit of climate shock. Winter comes early and stays late here in the Ozarks. I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.
Mark Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Easily 2-3 inches of sleet on the ground in Ste. Genevieve - lull now before snow begins.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Winter comes early and stays late here in the Ozarks. Not very often fortunately. In '12 we were fishing in T shirts most of the end of February and March. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Quillback Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Just heard some thunder. I've seen thunder snow before, but I don't think I've ever heard thunder when it was as cold 14 degrees.
kjackson Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 14 degrees and rain? Really? Thundersnow I can handle but rain when it's this cold is beyond weird… And now it is snowing…that's much better.
