I was fortunate enough to spend Saturday afternoon on Upper Taney which I haven't done in a long time. There were shufflers EVERYWHERE....and when I say shufflers.....I mean shufflers ON A MISSION!!!!!

They were freaking everywhere, groups of two or three...they looked like they were doing the twist (so much that the song is still stuck in my head!!)

One of the guys got tired of shuffling and just walked right in front of me on his way out (within 15 feet), don't mind me, I'm not fishing....just shook my head. If he didn't think this was wrong,,,,,then saying something wouldn't have helped.

One father and son pair came walking down the bank and I heard him telling his son "we'll catch the s(*& out of them right over there"...they waded in...and he started demonstrating the "Taneycomo Two Step" to his son until he finally "got the hang of it" .....they shuffled, caught a couple, then shuffled some more as they moved downstream....

Another group of three across the river from me "these fish are EASY...this kicks butt!! woohoo"......no kidding.

Two and half hours at least a dozen...."experienced" shufflers.....

Do you ever see somebody else do something so audacious, that it even embarrasses you?......happened to me

I don't think I'll go back for a while

really really really sad......and to think......like idiot father.......like impressionable son (I would have taken a video but my finger tips were frozen)

unbelievable

shuffler......someone standing there stirring the bottom up with their feet to dislodge aquatic insects, which bring the fish right to their feet to feed (or immediately downstream), then fishing that column of water to catch the fish

another definition......cheater

another definition......moron who looks really stupid while fishing and has no clue of said stupidity

Thanks for the lesson, I was wondering what those guys were doing just jigging right by their feet. I saw one guy working a fly on his leader in a weird manner also. He would drop the fly near his foot, while holding the leader. It seemed every time he let the leader go and grabbed his rod he would have another fish on. He would then battle it like he casted for it. I had no idea that was what he was doing. That turd had 4 to my 1.

And that is why those fish gather around people feet. Im sure just walking stirs them up some but shuffling really gets them stirred up. I would never do that fishing but would for educational purposes only.

Were these guys releasing the fish after they caught them?
