duckydoty Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Man, your boat is fast! Did you see any shad? A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
mwfischer Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Miss being able to get all the way up there with the new boat. I think unless the lake was up about 1.5' with units running I wouldn't try to get past that shallow riffle down from trophy run.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 5, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted March 5, 2014 Man, your boat is fast! Did you see any shad? No shad. Marsha asked as we're watching the video... "You're really not going that fast are you?!" Wish I was... they'd be fun. DD- you never saw my Shawnee 18' jon I had with the 90 hp motor, front stick steering... that was FUN to drive!
Seth Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Awesome as always Phil! I may have to try and talk my buddies in to heading over to Taney one day when we come down for some snagging in two weekends. Depends how slow the crappie/white bass fishing on the James is though.
duckydoty Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 The other morning, when it was 10 degrees out, I found nothing fun about going fast. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 6, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted March 6, 2014 Put some fat on those bones... it's called insulation!
Members whatnext Posted March 6, 2014 Members Posted March 6, 2014 I always call it winter weight, the only problem is it stays for the summer too.
Members C&R Posted March 8, 2014 Members Posted March 8, 2014 Phil, I am going to try your jig fishing this coming Mon. from my boat. Thinking that with the much warmer temps, the corp. may not be generating much. If so, will your technique still be productive in slow water? Especially if I can't get up to the cable, I may have to stay below Point Royale. What do you think? Thanks
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 8, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted March 8, 2014 I'd go with 2-pound line and smaller jigs. 1/32nd, 1/16th ounce. Let them go to the bottom and work them slow. Even work the shallow side of the lake. You're probably right on the generation.
