Went out with CWC87 yesterday on the Gasconade, we were in his boat which was nice (sometimes I'm glad to not have to take my boat!). Water temps were up to 45 or so, which is getting to the low edge of temps that are good for fishing. We caught about 30-35 fish, mostly jigs. CWC87 ended up with the fish of the day... A fine 20" smallmouth. CWC87 gave me a fishing lesson! my biggest was only 17" or so.

But with all the fun it is to catch a big fish like that, in Missouri you have to live with the reality that there are Low Life poachers out there trying to gig every big fish!

This is the same fish viewed from the other side. I guess this girl was one of the lucky few

Nice job Mitch and Corey!

Perfect example of illegal gigging. Very sad and frustrating but glad you posted it for proof to those that don't believe it's a big issue.

Nice fish, glad she was missed, bastages need to be caught. We're you north of I-44 or south?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I think anyone who insinuates that the giggers try to gig every big bass in the river is a sensationalist. Are there bad seeds, yes, but do they gig every big fish? No, there are good giggers in the state. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but on the scale which it is presented here, not even close.

I said poachers Drew, not giggers. And yes, any poacher will try to gig all the big fish he can.
