Bill Anderson Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 In answer to your original question, sure looks like a rainbow to me. Browns have yellow/orange belly. I've seen many fish with worn down pectorals, but this one looks like they were bitten off. I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.
XP 590 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 How dare you bring this thread back to the original question!

I've seen many fish with worn down pectorals, but this one looks like they were bitten off. I've never noticed red spots in the markings of rainbows though. That's what got me wondering about this fish. Here's a crummy pic from the top.
Lancer09 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It's a brown. It just probably had not colored up yet.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 21, 2014 Root Admin Posted March 21, 2014 Been catching a lot of light colored browns- hardly any tan to them. Not the little ones either- 15-17 inch. Usually they're colored up good but not right now.
Quillback Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 A good test is to look at the tail, in general, rainbows will have spots on the tail, browns not.
