Guest Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I managed 17 bass with the little rig on a slow day today. But I caught a pair of tanks in the 3-4lb range. Not bad for a midget sized bait. I caught twice as many as my dad. He was throwing a roboworm.
bluebasser86 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 that is another thing makes me skeptical. 100 fish day a day. !!!!! i bet a awful lot of them are dinks. A good portion of them are some days, some days well over 50% of them are in excess of 15". I've caught dozens of smallies over 3 on them in KS, which is a solid fish around here. I've caught some really nice largemouth on them also. 300 fish in 4 hours? Yeah, I thought it was a typo when he sent that to me but he said it wasn't. They use a fish clicker to keep track, same way I did the year I decided to keep track. I can't remember the size breakdown he gave me but a lot of them were 8-13 inch spots and largemouth. I've never fished the lake they were on but I've heard plenty of reports of 100+ fish days with normal size gear so I'm sure it's possible. The logistics would certainly be challenging. There are some county and state lakes within an hour or so of Kansas City where it might be possible to have that kind of day. Small lakes with grass and lots of largemouth. They were on Wilson State Lake near Buffalo, KS. I've never fished it but I've heard it's packed full of fish. After seeing that KDWPT sampled a nearly 4 pound spot out of there I will be making the drive at least once this year to check it out though.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Blue...you can count me with those who believe it is possible. I would just spend too much time trying to get the pliers to keep that rate going. Don't think you could do it with brown fish. Even the little guys can drag things out. It definitely can be an every cast deal at times. Not right now, just not the numbers available yet. Give it a month or so.
