Bill Babler Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 bill as a ps to my thanks would you let me know if you do start catching them like that. Yep, you will be my first call. Sorry on today trip it did not happen exactly like that. We fished Viney Creek and had 12 fish. Fished with Jerry Kinney. Great guy that is a pleasure to fish with. Seems we have really had a hard time his last few trips. Had he and his son out this last Winter just as the deep bite ended. Again for us nothing on the A-Rig. Jerry had 3 on a jig and 3 on a grub. I had 6 on a grub and that was the deal. Weather front after front kept blowing in and out with scattered rain. Forgot, I did have 1 17 inch walleye on the grub that was counted in the 6. Seems again like we only caught fish on 3 or 4 locations. Nothing on the other locations. We would either catch a couple of ZIP. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
techo Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I live here and have a friend coming down in April. We always get a guide to take us out the first part of the week and copy that technique/pattern the rest of the week to help make sure my friend has a fun week. Sometimes the pattern works most of the week sometimes it doesn't. Last few times Babler took us out. Small price to pay to fish four hours with him to help make the next 40+ more of a successful catching week. Tim Carpenter
Sac River Jim Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 bill your so right. last week i watched the forum like a hawk studied maps for hours and thought i had a pattern developing for crappie. our club put in at cape fair at 7:00am saturday morning my partner and i shot to point 15 and flat creek as fast as we could go. everyone else went down towards wooley and piney. make a long story short the boys that went down all weighed their best 5 fish in and most were averaging over a lb. a piece. we almost got skunked. but thats the way this lake is all you can do is give it your best shot. it could have very well been the other way around just as easy. ya just dont know till you get out there after em.
Members Teddy Posted April 1, 2014 Author Members Posted April 1, 2014 Mr Babler, I respect you very much. I watch this website and many times see folks catching lots of fish. You make the arguement that if you catch one fish you should be happy. Here is a post that was on this website today: From the Cape Fair Marina Facebook page: You may have heard the new song that that says "this girl is on fire, well it applies so well to yesterdays Sunday Open bass tournament and we can say "this Rock is on Fire." Table Rock lake is on fire. What I'm about to put down from Sunday's score sheet is just awesome!!! We had twenty five boats along with some of the finest fisherman all fired up and ready to go fishing and the fog was so bad that you couldn't see the fellow you were talking to if you was outside. I finally got the boats out at 9:15 that morning and told the guys that weigh-in time would be changed tp 4:00 p.m. and reminded them that this tournament was a 4 bass limit and the marina cove is off limits and please be careful. I also teased them a bit by offering them $50.00 extra above the big bass pot if anybody could bring in a 9 pound bass today and boy did I think I was going to have to pay up. Remember this is a four bass limit and first place went to the team of Mike Sisco and Alan Muenks with 4 bass that weighed 19.78 pounds. That also got them the big stringer side pot and some good pocket change. Mike was just sick because they were culling 3 and 4 pound bass hunting for that big bass. 2nd place went to Brian Thompson and Talia Smith with 4 bass that weighed 19.68 pounds (you can't much closer to first place then this) 3rd place went to Gary Willis and Anthony Willis with 4 bass that weighed 19.06 pounds. 4th place went to the team of Shawn Freeman and Josh Busby with 4 bass that weighed 18.58 pounds. 5th place and big bass and big bass side pot went to James Kilgore and Robert Siegart with 4 bass that weighed 16.70 pounds. Their big bass weighed 7.90 pounds. 6th place went to Richard Woodard and Cole Baker with 44 bass that weighed 13.08 pounds. Again Awesome!!! We had 4 bass that weighed over 7 pounds and 3 more that went over six pounds. By the way as I told the guys before they took off, the evening before I had weighed an 8.11 pound big bass that a couple of guys brought in. So I am going to extend that extra $50.00 to next week and lower the standard to any bass that weighs over 8 pounds will get the extra pocket money. Oh yes, those guys turned that big girl loose in the marina cove and our cove is off limits guys. Again I respect you, but wanted some advise on how bags like the above were being caught.
Bill Babler Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 To tell you the truth, I have no idea I am not catching fish like that, even close. I am going to guess they are crankin up the James River. Beck fished up there day before yesterday, and had a good day. Nothing and I mean nothing like those huge weights however. You have taken my post abit out of context. Or maybe just poor writing on my part. Catching fish on Table Rock lake for those that have not fished here is by far a very different ball of wax from locals fishing a tournament out of Cape Fair. it is pretty hard to judge fishing results on Table Rock from Local tournaments. You have guys that are willing to run where ever it takes, they do not have distance limits. Did not see any of the team members being ladies, not that they cannot catch them, but are they willing to fish for an entire even and never sit down or never make a bad presentation. Lots of variables here in trying to judge tournament results with visitors to our lake. Thanks and good luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Seems every lake has its groups of folks who really catch them in those small derbies, and in particular sections. Guys who fish every night after work, etc. Just good locals who stay dialed in. Good example is someone like Jason, who always seems to have good fish in the night tmts. Hard to compare those results to others. Good sign though.
