What would be the ideal Boat Engine combination be for the Niangua River, for Fishing, Trapping and Gigging?

Niangua River is one of the few place I see paddle jons, seems like the ideal boat for that local. Of course long narrow boats don't jive with modern boat sensibilities but what the heck.

His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

I happened across one of the few remaining 1636 jons, and I'm keeping it specifically for the Niangua/Gasconade. I built a nice short-shaft 15hp 2S for it and it just feels perfect for that river. Anything too shallow to run through under power is easy enough to pole/paddle/or drag over.

No more shuttling and I can haul as much gear, food and firewood as I want to.

20' jet boat with about a 250hp sounds about right...(sarcasm)...or a kayak...

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

Given the fact you have free shuttle service I think a Lowe paddle jon would be about right. Finding one would be another problem though. I think Blazer might still be making them, but not sure.

It wouldn't take much motor to run through the holes if you weren't loaded down.
