gitnby Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 taking my son out for next 3 days. Fri, Sat & Sun We are right at KC bridge and trying to decide where to run? I haven't been on the lake in almost 3 weeks, so not sure where to start? Anyone fished around KC lately? Last time I was out, you could walk across the dead shad. Would we be better off running up towards Baxter or maybe Aunt's? My plan was to work the jerkbait and wart around rock transition banks, and then maybe try the small stuff near pea gravel later in the day? Would love to haear any other suggestions!
96 CHAMP Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 check out petes fishing report www.hookedonbass.com, good luck and great fishin to ya!!!
rps Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 water temp almost 50 to 50 and a little: 1. wart, slow and barely hitting bottom 2. grub/tube/ned rig/jig and pig - dragging bottom or barely swimming 3. jerk bait with loooong pauses Good Luck!
dtrs5kprs Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I love 13, but think I might look in the backs of the Indians at Baxter, especially if rain brings some color, assuming you don't want to trailer up to Viola. If that is a bust, I would run the usual stuff around Kimberling. Whenever 13 finally turns on there should not be any reason to fish elsewhere. Those brown ones have got to move sooner or later.
Moswimb8slinger Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The shad kill is thinning out around the Dam area, went monday and only saw 3, when 2 weeks ago i wouldhave seen 30-40. Caught some keeper LM on jig and craw and saw several keeper size fish staging in spawning areas
gitnby Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Hit the water at KC 6:30 AM. Got this one on a wart at 7:15. Came off of steep chunk rock bank just inside of main lake pocket. Only bite we had.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 That will do. Never like to set the bar too high on day one, so you are still in good shape. Water temps?
Quillback Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Nice one! If you're only going to catch one, that's the size you want.
fishingaddiction Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Good fish Gitnby. What water temps are you seeing? Appears to be a female, fins are all tore up. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Alex Heitman Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Nice fish. Bite may just be starting up in that area. If temps are close to 50 you may want to fish pretty shallow. You would be surprised how many fish will be up shallow.
