Sac River Jim Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 sam thnx for that information i had caught three last spring when our club was down at cape fair the biggest was 1.80 and they was all over 12''. id never seen that black stripe before even tho id caught alot of really dark crappie during spawn. i didnt catch any last saturday but some of the members of the club did and the biggest this time was 1.85lbs. i thought maybe it had something to do with the maturity of the fish. come to think of it the ones last year and this year were caught off the same bluff just around the bend from the west cape fair ramp. the guys in our club will be very interested in your information so TYVM.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 5, 2014 Root Admin Posted April 5, 2014 Friends went to Long Creek Monday- they said they found crappies close to the bank on spawning banks. Should be real good by now!

duckydoty Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Went back up there today with Chief. Whites were not there. Crappie fishing was much slower today also. Did not find any on the banks. A few shorts and only 3 keepers in the deeper brush piles. Got to have a day like today to let you know how good the good days really are. Fun day out there with good company. We watched a couple of wood ducks way up Flat Creek landing right above us in the trees. That was really cool. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. MeatintheFreezer Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I put in at Bridgeport yesterday with my son. We passed Ducky several times back and forth on James. We fished deep, shallow, and everywhere in between. Our best luck was pulling a few keepers off a flat above Flat Creek bridge, but it was a very slow, tough day. We ended up with 3 keepers, which we released in fine health. Water warmed up to 58 degrees by late afternoon, so it is very close. The cold front just had them on a very finicky bite. By looking at this photo, I believe that the bass have already spawned & hatched!! (and yes he held it out to make it look bigger) Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
duckydoty Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 I talked to one guy yesterday evening that was fishing out there in the morning. He did well till the fog burned off, then the bite just shut off for him too. He was catching them in deeper water. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at..
