Simon I'm sure you have noticed there is a big difference in the guides between the two rods and there is a good reason for that. The bottom line is you seriously restrict your distance.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Hey, if you're not embarrassed by people seeing you use a combination that's obviously not meant to be used that way and snickering behind your back, who cares as long as it works for you.

What about a spincast combo used upside down (with the reel, and guides facing the ground, like the norm for a spinning reel), any mechanical restriction of the design, with that? Cause that's how I fish with my spincast gear.

You have to reel backwards

Not if you stand on your head.

Does anyone even make a "quality" spincast reel anymore? The old ABU Garcia ones were actually really well made, but you couldn't palm them.

I wouldn't mind having a truly good one for shooting docks for crappie.

Their only problem (aside from being line snarling beasts) is that they are all built like a 50 cent can opener.

Stop it. I just hurt myself again.

From laughing, or from standing on your head? :)

Either way that banana this morning should help ward off muscle spasms.

I don't know exactly. Every one I've had has had some problems, if not outright been a complete pain in the rear. Yet for some reason I still gravitate towards them. Currently I'm trying out the newer design Zebco 33 platinum reel, and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it so far, but I've only had it for a few weeks.
