Members Coach CaL Posted April 29, 2014 Author Members Posted April 29, 2014 Coach he was being a complete butt simple as that. I see it a lot with Kayaks becoming more popular in fishing now. But I have to wonder if he hasn't had a few yakers cause him issues also. I will say this if your in a club to fish tournaments you might want to bring it to the attention on your members that when they see bass boats working the shore or anyone for that matter, running the shore toward them and pulling out or paddling over at the last minute is only going to increase the conflicts and a 20+ foot bass boat will win that conflict every time, I am seeing that almost every weekend now from Yaks. I had one come paddling right between my crappie markers a few days ago no call for it at all and I can promise you it pissed me off and I wont forget that rudeness. I agree its growing and more and more issues are going to come up. That is the exact reason I go around the outside of the bass boats if I'm moving toward them but usually its the other way around and they just go around the outside of me. About the yak that went between your markers were the fishing or just paddling? Remember anything about the boat?
Old plug Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 bluebasser------ You would be responsible for damage caused by you in a accident. It is a not a matter of what is said it is a matter of the evidence. Ripping the rods out of the boat is the evidence. The bass boater could have also said he was mad at him and cast a plug at him. That could get him arrested on some type of assault assault charge. All the real evidence is against him Rude people on the the water are just a refection of the rudeness in our society.

Green Yak black trim, Rigged palm beach style to holders on either side angled forward and bobbers out the back angler was cast third rod forward at my marker and then dragged both bobbers right next to it had a fish finder on the port side with the unit in front of him. Young guy early 20's. I wouldnt have been mad at all if he would have just asked if he could have fished but to just come in and go right over the markers was what triggered me. In Arkansas you are responcible for your Wake and intentionally waking someone is actually Assault .... Throwing in the boat to rip the rods out could be multiple violation. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
ollie Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I had something similar happen to me just the other day on the James. I was fishing up at Blunks and got ran out by boats. There were sooooo many of them up there and so little space I was kind of forced to just pick a second best spot. I had caught a real nice sow and was fighting it as I was drifting downstream and two boats just motored up to where I was and dropped anchor and started catching fish. I was a little p.o. but at the same time it was getting dark and I was more afraid that no one would see me. That was a first for me however because I normally don't fish in those kind of situations. I'm asking the rest of the crew if that fits anyone s description. When was this? Sit inside kayak or sit on top?
Old plug Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I do not pay any attention to most of the jump in people in tournaments or even fishing around the dock. This past weekend we had up to 4 boats at times fishing between my dock and two neighbors. they caught a few smaller ones out of my one empty stall. But they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. So I was not worried.
Members pomm muskie Posted April 29, 2014 Members Posted April 29, 2014 We were on lake Texoma a few years ago and had gotten on the stripers when two jet skis ( water maggots ) came buzzing in close and drove the school back to the bottom.... we saw the guide reach down for a rod with a 2 oz egg weight.on it . we just kind of looked at each other and thought this may be interesting but they didn't come back .. just sayin
Old plug Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I have only had few run ins on the water. Most amounted to nothing more than waving fingers back and forth. I did have one guy threaten to board me. I told him come ahead. showed him my big can of pepper spray and he reconsidered. I would have burnt his face and eyes like he would remember the rest of his life. I would have been in my rights to do it also.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 OP I have to ask it and I know its a thread jack but why would you use pepper spray instead of giving him the ultimate hand to hand lesson. I mean come on it would be the greatest youtube video ever... I can see the title now ( Young punk thinks he can take the old man! little did he know who he was messing with ) Hell I say get Glen to video it even his laughter through it would be better than a sound track. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I second that. I'd love to see the footage of OldPlug teaching the young one how to respect his peers. :-) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
