1969Larson Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 If Dads would follow the first part of that advice ... Love their Moms.... It wouldn't be 98.7% (and I question that statistic.).
Members Coach CaL Posted April 30, 2014 Author Members Posted April 30, 2014 Everyone bends over backwards to get kids into fishing/hunting.....Then when they do, everyone wants to kick most of their a$$es up between their shoulder blades. Are we now starting to realize that MOST kids are better left at home in the city, huffin' paint, smoking K2 and playing their computer games? I CAN NOT DISAGREE MORE. I'm responsible for a HOFNOD(Hooked on fishing not on drugs) club at a local junior. These kids need ROLE MODELS. We do our best to teach them ,but obviously we wont get everyone. This is a prime example to me on why people should go join programs like these to teach the kids. Do it so maybe your kids or grandkids can enjoy somewhat of what you got to enjoy. Hell do it for the simple fact that you want to try to make your time on the water more enjoyable so you dont have to run into some "punk" kid. I'm also a PE teacher and the OBESITY rate its getting ridiculous. I have 12-14 year olds that have 60 percent body fat, because all they do is sit playing computer games. We need these kids to get ACTIVE. Is fishing a super active sport? It could be depending on what your doing ,but it gets them outside not sitting on the computer. Did i mention that the guy in the bass boat looked like he was in his late 40s??
fishinwrench Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 If Dads would follow the first part of that advice ... Love their Moms.... It wouldn't be 98.7% (and I question that statistic.). So divorces are always Dads fault? I beg to differ. I've obviously observed (and experienced) alot of significantly different situations than you have. And I'll stand by those statistics, even though I admittedly pulled them put if thin air....supported only by my own observances.

It is good advice. New fathers should follow it.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 There is a line in Miranda Lamberts song AUTOMATIC that say it all about working out problems and that is to stay married. Divorce is way to simple a way out and should not be granted by the courts so easily. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Show me a new father that doesn't love his kid....OR his wife/girlfriend. I can show you 3 girls real quick that don't want anything to do with their babies daddys except make sure their life sucks. I have a 19 year old daughter that has plenty of friends....so I get to see/hear the REAL DEAL more than I even want to. Trust me, it ain't all about a bunch of boys being total bums out there. There's another side of the coin that alot of people conveniently never look at.

Old plug Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Old Plug would like to see it also. but they were not really very young just drunk had just left a bar and thought i was in the way of there set course.the girlfriends were younger for sure. I think the things we see in our youth today in the outdoors springs from our general attitude as a society. You see it everywhere, greed, on the highways, on the job and anywhere else. A lot of our youth is lazy as well. You just about want to give up on them. But then you see a few who are really what we want to see in our youth. I know one young man that got a 4 ur scholarship to Ohio state based on his own drive and applied intelligence. He graduated with 2 degrees. He now at the age of 21 he is 2nd Lt riding around the world in a B52. The other is a young woman 18 yrs old with the maturity of a woman much older. She just started her college education where she promptly wound up on the dean list. She also holds down a full time job ( because she was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth) that requires her to be in contact with the general public. She does that well enough that she runs the place on her own a lot of time. I know many in this community are aware of her and have high regards for her. She is going to go places thats for sure. When I see young ones like these two it make me think maybe there is some hope for the future.
J-Doc Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Remember the old "Hot pocket" TV commercials where a hi-pitched voice would lovingly sing the words "Hoooot Pocket!" ?? Well imagine that but with these words.... "Off topic!" Lol!! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

There's another side of the coin that alot of people conveniently never look at. I don't doubt that. However, I am fairly certain that there are not many baby-daddy-hating girls on this fishing website. Many men and fathers, however are. So to that audience, I say again... Love their moms. Take 'em fishing.
