9LB
This is a new thred record for Stockton ! We did it. The most replies to any topic over the last year was like 33. Close second when I said I wish the walleyes would eat all the crappies in Stockton.
Bird Watcher
To me bass are a sportfish, where crappie and walleye i consider a game fish. i don't mind people catching and eating bass, thats fine. but i believe if you release a 4lb or 5lb bass, that will give someone the opportunity to catch an 8lb or bigger. I am completely ok with someone keeping a limit of 15in bass So, given the fact that the state record Black Bass is 13lbs 4oz and the state record walleye is 21lbs 1oz.., what could the walleye that you keep claiming is "good eating" weigh when it grows up? More or less than the 4lb bass you are worried about? Just curious.
REDSOXWSCHAMP
i don't know Bob Villa I'm not a fisheries biologist. i would say less. most walleye fisherman measure their walleye in length not lbs.
Quillback
Oh yeah? I release walleye. Best eating fish around here are blue cats from Grand lake (smaller ones).

Fly_Guy
Had to laugh reading this thread - hope the bass tasted good - this thread wouldn't be near this long if some people hadn't been brainwashed by Ray Scott and company.

Sac River Jim
Oh Good Lord Redsox I hope the old farts in my crappie club don't see your post on crappie not being a sport fish you might give one them a stroke lmbo!!!!!! They eat and breathe crappie fishing. All we fish for is a trophy at the end of the year but you would think they were fishing in the bassmaster classic!!!!!! Seriously tho i joined the club last year and i thought i'd probly hold my own against them but NOT!!!!!! I never really chased crappie around the lake till about 4 years ago and it has been a hard transition for me from tournament bass fishing to tournament crappie fishing. Big Keene
I understand the argument that a limit of 15"ers might taste better than a few big pigs, but don't the 5,6,7lbers have to come from somewhere? Seems like a dangerous management practice to take only the young. Eventually the bigguns will die naturally, and all of the younger year class fish will have been harvested. Personally i rarely get to pick and choose, if we go out looking to stock a fish fry, we keep any legal fish we can get in the boat[(except white bass, carp, catfish)i dont care for my fish to taste very much like fish :-)], and we nearly always end up with a mixed bag.
