moodyfour Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 It has been a few years, but my wife's grandmother caught an 18 inch trout two points up from where the White and James come together.
Members carpelpummel Posted May 17, 2014 Members Posted May 17, 2014 We are in the Baxter area and have caught 4 rainbows over the past 10 years or so off the dock fishing for whites with minnows or shad under lights, all within a few weeks either side of right now
Roger Craig Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Nutz, I have lived here for 40 years and yet to catch a trout in TR, I did move Wyoming, started stream fly fishing and sold boat, since I have been back I have yet to boat TR again, sucks since I grew up on that lake, but pay for and old mans funeral, take care of an 85 year old mother and boat dreams are gone. Still fish, just hunt and peck bank fishing, still fun to me. Used to drive to work in 80's at Ma Craig's Rest, get off, go straight to lake, five nights/days a week, miss it.
Sac River Jim Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Roger I take care of my mom too. much respect to you, family is alot more important than a boat right now . im in the same situation but you continue to do the right thing and you will be blessed. i know i am
mjk86 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Caught a couple in the k city area in my life. Deep water in the summertime with crawlers. Seems like every few years one of our crew catches on of those goofy things.
denjac Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I caught one in Mill creek 5 or 6 years ago on a redfin. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. For a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle." ~ Winston Churchill ~
Feathers and Fins Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I would be willing to bet if a Guy was to troll 5 to 7 colors of leadcore line and a Panther Martin or Roostertail between Holiday Island and Roaring River areas he would find some trout. Just makes you wonder how many big trout might actually be lurking in TR. It has a great shad base and is certainly deep enough to support them in summer. Holdover trout in western reservoirs are known to get big because they don't get heavily targets, I wonder how big the ones in TR are? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Looking at one of the lake-run rainbows that run up the Roaring River in the spring, there definitely are trout in Table Rock. If I wanted to catch trout and was serious about it, I'd run down riggers just above the thermocline (or just below it) a flasher and fly. Or I'd troll close to the surface during the winter. Light leadcore and Roostertail Lites should do it. I caught three or four trout this spring (nothing over 15 inches) from Roaring River up. However, I've seen some pigs upstream while touristing about. If the stripers don't get them, there will be big trout in the lake.
Lancer09 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Some of the guys Who share our dock Down by old 86 troll for them by the dam. I know they run downriggers for them and troll with flat fish. Right around the dam area. They have brought some Big ones back, even in the middle of summer.
Members oldlund Posted May 18, 2014 Members Posted May 18, 2014 So is a trout stamp required if they are caught in the lake?? Thanks
