Not saying I mind paying, just saying I've already paid with my $30 annual pass that I buy religiously every year. Of course, that money doesn't help the state since it goes to the Corps of Engineers.

James, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the money goes into the Federal Government General Fund. That is what they told us at the Viney Creek meeting, but I might have misunderstood. If the State is charging for the launch I am assuming they will mow the grass and perhaps have a dumpster and the Outhouses open. That is worth it for me and my clients. I'm ok with this.

Thanks guys.

Just speaking for myself, I'd probably go elsewhere if I had to pay a special $4 fee at Viney. In fact, I'd probably use the little ramp at the gate if I was intent on putting in at Viney. Coming from Bella Vista, it's just as easy for me to put in right across the river at Big M. Haven't used the ramp at Emerald Beach but have fished around it and it doesn't look any better (or as good) as the little one-lane ramp outside the park at Viney.

Gentlemen, if you are 62 plus you can get a National Parks and Federal Recreational Senior Lands Pass( lifetime) for $10.00, it will let you in free to any National Park and gives a 50% discount on the annual fee for the launching and parking pass ( $15.00 ). Also discounts on camping and other things. I think you can get it on line,if not you can get it at the park gates. There are different passes so make sure you get what I posted. Hope this helps. I drove down to that Emerald beach ramp that you speak of Champ, that is a pretty knarley drive thru the entire subdivision. As you know sometimes locals there just leave their trailers hooked up and in the water on the ramp.

I only launch on the back ramp at viney any way. That front ramp you need two people or you are going to get your tooties wet.

No kidding there! Quillback and I have watched some interesting launches happen at Viney. That ramp is just not steep enough for anything large or heavy-ish. We watched a guy launch a pontoon there once and the front tires were almost 1/2 way wet by the time they got it off the trailer.

My family vacationed at Viney back in the late 60's high school days for me and I sure remember a lot of "interesting" things going on at that boat ramp.

I can't see where charging $4 to launch at Viney makes any money for the state, there's not that many boats launching there. In the winter you may see one or two a day.

But, it does beat closing it.
