Hey, I'll be less than two hours from Truman if you ever want to meet up to chase wipers and walleye. Nothing pulls like a wiper in open water, and I seriously miss it. It's a shame that Dynagy killed them off in Baldwin Lake- I had that figured out.

Can you still get into the old gravel strip pits at Crescent, down river from Glencoe? Used to be a great place years ago. You could get in through a small shoot off the river. Or, before the golf course came in you could bank fish around the pits on the Crescent side.

Also, how's the run down river from I44 to that area? I've been upriver from I44 in the Gator almost to Pacific, but not down river.

I think the pits have silted in quite a bit. The river would need to be high to get in.

Not sure about the pits Haven't slowed down to check the entry I would say under 44 bridge is fine at today's water level. There is big rocks strewn everywhere but several ways to get through it. 8" less water and it will be downright treacherous.

Just thinking about doing some local fishing. The Gator gets anxious between Taneycomo trips. Might help to find a fishing partner experienced in the lower Meramec. The son is pretty busy with work, and selling his house. Don't really want to run the river by myself.

I'm thinking I will be down that way in morn. Haven't ok'd it with the boss yet I don't really like the water color. It's a little to chocolate for me but I found some good fish the other day in the same conditions. If it's storming in morn in for sure going. That's the best possible time to hit the river

Hit the river today on my raft for the first time. Put in at the kirkwood ramp and floated to hwy 30. Fishing Seemed a little slow but we did catch a few spotted bass and a white bass on grubs and crankbaits. This was my first time fishing the lower Meramac by boat and I can't wait to get back out there.

No, the river has to be up to get in there. The whole thing is shallow except for the very back corner gets deep. I wouldn't take a Gator in there unless you like bouncing it off of trees and brush to get in there. You can make it down from 44 bridge if you know the river, and it gets shallow all the way across the river down below the two train bridges where the river makes a hard right. I don't think you are allowed to park and walk in to fish either, as you would have to walk through private property to get in there.

I fished with 2 friends out of a boat this afternoon near George Winter. Not much was going on, but I managed to catch what I think is my biggest Crappie to date, at 13". Got it with a small crank near some brush/timber. Aside from that we got a couple of small drum, but that was it this time. Overall it was still pretty sweet to both get a Crappie that size, and break a multi-week skunking streak with it.
