Members Festus30 Posted June 2, 2014 Members Posted June 2, 2014 Hi guys, been lurking around for a while, gonna be making my first trip to BSL this Thursday and will be bass fishing through Monday. I'll be staying near Midway, so I figure to fish the lower end a lot. I have a couple questions, don't want anybody's hard earned spots, but just general real-time information if you're willing to help a newbie. I'm pretty well versed in deep water fishing, and have side and down imaging so don't be afraid to steer me to weird stuff if they're on it. 1. At 661, is there water up in the bushes? Is there a shad spawn bite going on at all relating to these or riprap? 2. I haven't seen many people talk about cranking on this forum, mostly the Ned, c-rigging, grubs, tubes, etc. Is this just because there aren't a lot of you into cranking, or because they're not on it right now? I'd think there would be a good postspawn cranking bite on riprap/secondary points/creek mouths. 3. The guys I'm with have never caught a Kentucky, any particularly K "likely" locations or structure?... Again, no need for anybody's juice, but sometimes there are well known areas loaded with little spots that everyone frequents (bridges, etc). 4. Is there a tackle shop near midway that will have the Ned rigging components? Or do I have to go to BPS in Branson. Thanks a lot guys, I'll post pics and a report when I get back.
Ham Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 1) yes 2) crankbaits will work fine in water with some stain 3) Spots are everywhere. But head up the Theodosia arm and fish points and bluffs, you should find a spotted bass or two. 4) Red's in Lakeshore is a GREAT tackle store, BUT I doubt you'll find Ned stuff there. I haven't been there lately and looked for it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
nomolites Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 3) The bass were in the backs of the creeks on secondary points this weekend: the bite was hot. I wax walleye fishing but every bass boat I saw was hooked up all morning. Not to worry as the K bass far outnumber the LM. BTW-most fish were coming out of the buckbrush on jigs.
Quillback Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Don't know how close you are to Shell Knob, but Sports Boats in Shell Knob is selling Ned heads made by board member Danger Close.
Fish24/7 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 have not seen any shad spawning this week where I have been, but if you can find some big schools of them with your electronics there should be some bass close by ...... don't forget your rain gear, and keep an eye on the local forecast bring some topwater plugs.....I'm still catching bass on them. Caught and released 9 keeper lmb in less than an hour this morning fishing in the rain. Saw some pictures of some decent bass caught on top this afternoon in the middle of the day. Ham's recent report also mentions topwater. man don't drive all the way to branson bps Save your truck gas and check out Harp's Grocery store in Mtn.HOme, BIg Red's and BUll Shoals Boat Dock if you need more tackle. Good LUck
