Yep that's a good idea, I'm going to keep my Boga Grips on the deck rather than in the locker for those small, swingable fish. This one hook experience is enough for me, don't want any others.

I just swing my treble hook fish back to Donna and let her take them off. I can handle the single-hook ones by myself. :XD:

Hee hee. That would explain all the little brown jigs stuck in the back of your head.

Sorry about the hook in the finger QB. Did you forget your net, I thought you always used the net on your fish.

Walleyes are even worse, since you can't lip 'em and their gill plates are razor-sharp.

Reduce the risk by lengthening the line--don't reel the fish up so close to the rod tip. It's the tension of a too-short, too-tight line that seems to get us more often than not. Best to leave 6 or 7 feet and slacken up while handling the fish.

+1 on the net. I also use rubber dipped gloves, especially if whites are in action.

I almost never grab a white anymore if I'm using a bait with trebles. I'll just hang it over the edge of the boat and shake it off the hook with a pair of pliers. They scare the crap out of me when they have a mouth full of red eye shad.

My finger is doing fine (thanks for asking). I haven't been since last week because of the forecasts for rain. Maybe tomorrow.

QB, I do not net everything. Small fish I swing in. However, I never go near the fish with anything other than my boga grip and needle nose. Two trips to the emergency room for hooks I could not push through, plus two snip offs of through and throughs have finally taught me.

+1 on this one I must say.....unfortunately.
