Champ188 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Want to see water patrol? Go fish a derby out of Kimberling City. They'll be out there in the predawn darkness trying to snag some felonious, lawless, devil-may-care bass fisherman with a flickering stern light.
Jason Essary Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 First, sick of some of them too guys. more over Im scared for the kids on tubes. Second thanks Vernon. Probably wont help but least its an attempt. Third, there normally all gone after dark so 80% of my fishing is unmolested. Jason Essary Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Champ, have had two friends get tickets this year for not having their lights out when the sun was down, but still plenty light. Rule is a rule but with all the other problems really??? Champ188 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Jason, it might be as simple as the fact that it's a lot less hassle for the water patrol to write a nitpicky ticket to a mostly law-abiding fisherman than have to deal with a boatload of drunken partyheads. Just a thought.
Members basscat123 Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 Had the same fun experience last Saturday in the Indians with the camp kids. Took my wife fishing and was fishing near the camp cove. At one time 6 jet skis and 2 ski boats loaded with who knows how many came blasting out of the cove one after another. It was chaotic at best. They all started in the back of the cove, of course way behind the no-wake bouys and raced out into the main water area and did circles and you name it. It was crazy and just plain stupid. We picked the best time and got out of there, loaded the boat and went home. It is terrible, just terrible. Bull Shoals is sounding good to me
Members basscat123 Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 Maybe some of you folks should just make some no wake buoys and go set them where you like. Doesn't sound like there is any water patrol to remove them
Members basscat123 Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 Those people don't observe them anyway
merc1997 Bo Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Champ, have had two friends get tickets this year for not having their lights out when the sun was down, but still plenty light. Rule is a rule but with all the other problems really???jason, i have tangled with the water patrol for years for one, not using a bit of common sense. two, seemingly always targeting bass fisherman, when the barge traffic, crotch rockets, and tourists that have not business on the water during the day let alone at night. even the boats that the water patrol run now throw out too big of a wave. in fact, last year one came by while we were fishing before dark, and the wake came over the side of a pantera. i was not happy. we seriously need to have an operators test for anyone to operate a boat on the water. there is too much traffic for dummies to be out operating a boat. i see way too many tourist running over very dangerous stuff. to them if it is wet, it is good. i do not know how we do not have way more serious accidents because of idiots pulling their kids over timber that is about six inches under water. bo
Members basscat123 Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 Bo, I remember that happening to you. Absolute nonsense today. During the big bass derby in may this year I was knocked off my feet by a guy in one of the big boats. Funny thing was that was at the Blue hole on Kings River.
Old plug Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Greentriton. That would be nice but it is impossible. Up here on LOZ people have been known to fire on boats. Another thing I noticed this year when I go down to the dock early in the morning is odd things floating in the water. Like a big 2x10 filled with large nails or the two large chunks of foam I seen last week with rods and such stinking out of it all over. These generally appear on weekend . I am sure someone is setting up booby traps for boaters. I imagine when we see more respect from these summer peole who believe they are above is there might be less trouble.
