I could use a good lesson in how to fish it. I've thrown it off and one and to this point have caught one (1) fish on it. It was small and the bite was almost indiscernable. I've tried beavers and brush hogz.

I know it must be productive. I need to figure it out.

I use a paca craw in baby or regular size. I grind it on bottom at the fastest pace I can while maintaining bottom contact.

I actually started making my own so that I could have some with a decent hook.

I've been trying to fish the swing jig more and more as the situation allows. Fished it Wednesday and was getting quite a few bites on it with a creature. One thing I've started to do is throw a big 10"+ worm on it. Depending on the brand of worm it will sit almost straight up in the water like when rigged on a shakey head.

Another thing I prefer is the ones that you can change the hooks out on. The more expensive ones like Chomper's and the Hard Heads don't allow you to do that. I've even started throwing swimbaits on them from time to time.

I wish lure makers would state whether they float or sink. I've wanted some big worms for that but it's hard to know. Something like a big havoc bottom hopper would be nice.

The hard part with a straight shank is the keepers on the shank usually get in the way and don't let the mold close. I poured some with just the heads then added a split ring and an Owner Twistlock Zo-wire hook. It's been working great for pitching into cover, works like a pegged weight but gives the bait a little more movement.

I wish lure makers would state whether they float or sink. I've wanted some big worms for that but it's hard to know. Something like a big havoc bottom hopper would be nice.

The YUM Mightee worms work really well on them. I'm not sure if they float or not, but they sure do catch fish, and bigger than average ones because they're such a big worm.

We killed them at Grand at the beginning of the month on swinging football heads and Zoom Ol' Monsters. Haven't really found a plastic they don't work with very well other than tubes and they still work okay with them.

Or you could use a straight shank hook like a spinnerbait hook and use a hitchhiker coil installed after you pour the jig head. It would act like a shaky head jig with more movement and you won't have problems closing the mold. There are a lot of options with the swing jig.
