Sac River Jim Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 as you guys have probly figured out im addicted to the bps catolog store i love to drag stuff home that i think is a good deal whether i need it or not. last week i drug home a 7'10'' johnny morris elite mh fast spinning rod for 35 bucks and today i drug home the johnny jm20 11bb spinning reel to stick on it for 30 bucks (it had a 30.00 dollar tag on it but it rang up 60.00 but they let me have it for 30.00) Anyhows im not sure what it will be good for except maybe big shakey heads i guess. any suggestions will be helpful!!!!!!
5bites Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 You could have one of the longest casting split shot rig setups ever! I really don't know what I'd use it for but whatever it is I'd get a good hookset.
Sac River Jim Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 yea id never used a mh spinning rod that long before but i'll figure it out i was even thinking deep diving cranks or even an a-rig. i ckd specs on the reel and its max 19.5lb drag so i think it would be beefy enough.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 shakey head, finesse jig. put some braid on it and make it a frog rod
dtrs5kprs Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 shakey head, finesse jig. put some braid on it and make it a frog rod Those big spinning rods with braid are awesome frog sticks. Otherwise it would be also be great for dragging a "stupid" tube out in 25'-35'. Maybe flukes/senkos also. Of course you will need a second boat to tote it around...
Moswimb8slinger Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I'd use it for jerkbaits too. I know some jerkbaits have the weight transfer systems in them, but i cast them a little further especially with a long setup like that

I know some jerkbaits have the weight transfer systems in them, but i cast them a little further especially with a long setup like that you should be able to launch just about anything with length of rod, but jerkbaits hard or soft would make a pretty good setup
*T* Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Don't know if I could work a jerkbait in my normal fashion. Rod's a little long for that for me. "Water is the driving force of all Nature." -Leonardo da Vinci
Bill Babler Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Probably a fantastic Redfin Rod. As for the reel, it was in the repaired or returned building for a reason. I would slap some 15 pound braid on it and swim the fin. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Sac River Jim Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 thnx for all the advice ive gotten burned on a couple reels from there in the past but theyve always made it right. i ck them out pretty good before i buy them anymore im putting it in the boat this evening and headed to stockton ive got a war eagle white spoon on it right now but im gonna try some the other suggestions too and i put power pro braid on it too.
