I'm using a 13 Fishing Envy 7'1" heavy but I have a feeling we are talking about a different jig. :D

Are you wanting a bass jig rod or one for trout? Lake or stream? Provide some details on exactly how you like to fish and I bet the experts on here will give you a lot of info and opinions.

With that question you will get lots of different answers! Faster the action the better IMO. Fast tip and stout mid to butt section with lots of sensitivity.

i use a 6 ft loomis trout rod it has a fast tip but you can get a good hook set dont forget when you purchase a reel i look for a silky smooth drag for that 2# line that is getting harder to see as i get older lol

I use a 7' cabelas trax with a quantum reel. Multi use rod that also works great with cleos, stick baits, kastmasters and even bait. Not expensive and fast hook set. Also good white bass rod

LF 6'6" Clarus is a really good rod. Phil Lilley also has some that he is fond of at his shop. Reels? I have grown to like the Lew's Speed Spins. Better IMHO than Shimano Sahara for roughly the same money. Daiwa Exceller is another choice in the similar price range, No complaints there either.

Phil is as good a jig fisherman as can be found on Taney. Go by his place and buy what he uses.

Excellent point about considering the reel as well. Don't get a good rod and put a crap reel on it.
