Terrierman Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Went down to Rim Shoals and spent about the nicest 4th of July weekend I can remember. Remarkable weather!! Cabin at Rim Shoals Resort was immaculate, very comfortable and walking distance to the ramp. 100% recommendation on them from me. Friday the water was running about 2000 CFS or so and fishing was very good. Fished morning and afternoon with Ham. He's a heck of a fisherman and really knows that river. We boated somewhere between 40 and 50 fish on Friday, mostly rainbows. First fish or the day for me was a nice Cutthroat and Ham caught a couple of nice browns along with the rainbows. He also caught a really colored up cutthroat. They're really pretty fish. Saturday the generation was down and so was the fishing. Caught a few in the morning, took a long break and a nap and met Ham and Richard Cross, AKA Zig Jig Master at Cotter. Generation was still very low and fishing was tough for me, but not too bad for Mr. Cross or Ham. The river started rising this morning around 7:30 or so. I was only out for a couple of hours, caught one nice brown and an 18 1/2 rainbow that was super fat. Maybe boated another dozen or so. Great trip, great weather, no craziness, time with friends, time with the wife, some good food. Awesomeness all the way around. That White River really is a heck of a resource. Oh, also met John Berry Friday AM at the ramp, he was the second one there after me. Seems to be a super nice fellow.

Ham Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I really enjoyed fishing with Terrierman again. He's just a lot of fun to be around. He's a very good multispecies fisherman. Very laid back on the water. Very easy to fish with. Catching fish is the reason we're on the water, but it ain't about the most or the biggest. He was there to relax with his wife and we made a couple of pretty relaxed trips.I thought we caught them OK. I really enjoy trips where both guys are catching them pretty equally. I don't want to catch em all and I really don't want to be watching the other guy catch em all. I enjoyed our trip with Richard Cross a lot eventhough the fishing was very difficult. The super low water comnbined witha LOT Of ppl. Made it much tougher than normal. I had the best seat in the boat. I got first crack at them. Richard is just scary good with the jig. I wish they had run the projected amounts of water. My wife wanted to fish on Sunday. She rarely wants to go, but she's very good when she decides to fish. She caught a trout on her first cast of the day and a trout on her first cast with a Zig Jig. We kept four trout and made trout cakes together for supper. They turned out really good which is a bad thing for the trout. I'll be keeping more of them in the future. She's bad about talking smack though. Just terrible. I think she caught more than I did and I couldn't be happerier about it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 GM, all you have to do is call. You're so busy with breaking 4 wheelers and then fixing them that I thought that fishing was on the back burner. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Quillback Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Sounds like some good fishing is still to be had on the river.
Ham Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Trout are catchable 365 on the White, but seem to be a little harder to fool during the summer. for me,100 fish days might be harder to come by. I'll give it a good try. I think 50 fish days should still be pretty routine as long as I fish 5 hours or so. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
