As I reported in another thread, July 5 was most unkind to me. I caught spots and bluegill, but only had one walleye bite and it came unbuttoned very quickly. I do not intend to give up, however. I merely have rearmed. While I was in Rogers today on another legitimate errand, I stopped at Cabelas. I picked up two scatter raps. I have taken my lead core rod out of the closet and it will go with me to the lake tomorrow. In addition, I bought a jar of the Gulp Alive 3 inch minnows. I intend to thread those on a one bead slow death rig.

I am going to cover some serious ground on the flats and edges tomorrow.

3" Gulp minnow is my favorite walleye plastic. Not only catches walleye, but everything else that swims in the lake too!

Well, I got as far as the buoys at the marina entrance and Missouri lit up like a fireworks display. I wouldn't be surprised if Eagle Rock marina got hit. I turned around and parked my boat in the slip. If it clears I will go out later.

I don't know why I bothered but I went out around 9:30 and fished until 2:30. I used gulp minnows on a slow death rig and trolled a scatter rap on lead core line. I fished 15 to 30 feet deep, flats and edges. Four walleye, all short, and 6 or 10 spots, 10 to 15 inches. Two large bluegill. Pretty much boring, but at least I was on the lake, right?

Must have just been a boring day all around. I spent the entire day proofing/editing a 266-screen webinar session (on-screen content, closed captioning and audio) on a new HR management system for a major grocery chain. That's almost as dull as trolling. :XD:

Champ - now that was FUNNYY...when I was a kid my folks would troll from daylight till dark for wally's, white bass and the like.....thought my head would pop off. Fortunately I found life in Bass fishing. :have-a-nice-day:

Fortunately, we don't all like the same things. I'm like you ... 10 minutes of trolling and I'm ready to make deals with the devil to get me to the bank.
