Cindyjo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Picking them up but it has been tough. They are on the graph but are not willing to really turn on. Web site is quiet so I thought I would add an update. Just wait until September.

rps Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Spoons? I love spoons. Have you actually had a good spoon day recently?
Pepe Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 We picked up a few each of the last 2 days, but it has been slow and scattered. As you reported, we can find them on the graph but had no luck catching the graphed fish. Jigs and a lot of patience were required for us to catch a half dozen this morning from 5:30 to 9. No keepers.
96 CHAMP Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I am planning on coming down sometime in september, please enlighten me as to what I may expect as I have not done much fishing on TRL in the late summer early fall, I see some of you talking about it lately
Mitch f Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Spoons? I love spoons. Have you actually had a good spoon day recently? Not recently, but I know when the bite gets tough in the summer at TR it seems the spoons take over, I learned this from a couple of good guides. Sac River Jim Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Not recently, but I know when the bite gets tough in the summer at TR it seems the spoons take over, I learned this from a couple of good guides. They really use their electronics to find the big balls of shad i fished 4 times last week 2 down here and 2 on stockton i caught most of my fish on spoons throwing just passed blow ups counting to 5 then swimming it bk through the blow up and pausing again.. its not like i'm tearing them up but it has been consistently slow i guess is the best way to put it. 3 weeks ago i did put a nice kicker fish in the boat in griesser on the son's creek arm of stockton. what ive been told since i was a kid is the shad only ball up when something is chasing them usually schooling fish but the larger fish are underneath waiting for the injured shad to flutter down right past their noses then its a free meal.
willyfish Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 My advice about fishing in the month of September is don't do it. I think its the toughest month of the year to catch fish.
