nathanhooper Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Green, thanks for the kind remarks. I too have hoped more people would be chasing the striped bandits. I know there are plenty of striper in the lake, and more people chasing them would equal more info where they are at. I'm surprised to see that I'm the only one specifically chasing them. I'm in cabelas from time to time, maybe I'll see you around. Need to get me an Ozark Anglers cap (do they exist) so that I can start meeting people on the forum. I have to say that I'll be frequenting HLS more though, I like to see the small business stay in business. But sometimes those businesses just won't have what I need and I'll go to the big store.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Nathan until school goes back in many people do not want to chase them simply because of boat traffic and the heat of the day. Come the 18th of August you will see more people chasing them. Another problem is the lack of bait this year, with Grand closed for shad and it being illegal to bring bait out of Missouri many people are switching over to other species as options to fish for. There is a lot of other baits available but people either don't think about them or know where to get them and some are to stubborn to learn a new trick. And finally its a very early bite from all reports 3am to 9am and most people are working so cant go or if they go on the weekend there is wake and ski boats on the water by 6am now. Don't worry though should be more and more reports after labor day for sure. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Ron Burgundy Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Seriously?......every time I'm in Cabelas there are green shirts everywhere, everywhere. Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Champ188 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I too was once an old grumpy fart who blamed the stripers for the lack of bass population ... Oh, J-Doc, I quit being grumpy the day I quit fishing Beaver, except for the rare tournament or the fall bite. You guys enjoy those big bruisers. I'll come help thin out those little spots when it cools off and I can catch em on a blade.

J-Doc Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I got some spotted fillets last week. Looked like crappie fillets. If you trim off the orage fat, looks just like crappie. Need marine repair?
