moguy1973 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I heard they were going to send them out to anyone who bought a white river border lakes fishing permit this year. Makes sense. I guess that would be why I got one, I bought a border permit a couple falls ago. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I got my invite...my only complaint would be to lower the power pool back to 654. I'll second that! The trout in the White, I know this sounds like broken record, managed for 60 years, became world class and even produced a record or two, all without adding an inch to BS. Wiping out most of the good bank fishing areas and the famous Pothole doesn't make sense to me. I have bought some border permits and fish BS often, or did before the flood, so I didn't get an invite. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
5bites Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 No invite for me, and I have the Border lakes permit. I heard a rumor that the COE plans to shut down 6 ramps on TR next year, including Big M and Eagle Rock. Hopefully this is not true, just passing on what I heard. Anyone else hear something like that? I don't want to butcher this thread but seriously that's a rumor? That would completely suck all day long. I think eagle rock is a good ramp. The parking isn't awesome but it's probably sufficient 99% of the time. The only good thing would be less boat traffic on that end of the lake. Maybe. Anyway, I've bought permits but haven't got the invite.

Champ188 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Hard to imagine why they would close both Eagle Rock and Big M. That's really your two primary access points in the upper White. At least that's the two I usually use when fishing that part of the lake and coming from Arkansas.
5bites Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 We could still use the marina ramp across the street but still, this would be just stupid.
Members twoarkies Posted August 14, 2014 Members Posted August 14, 2014 I live in Ozark, Mo. and received one of the notices. I purchased my permits on line, so maybe this explians why I received one. I am happy to know others received them too. I had no idea why I would receive this notice until this appeared on the forum.
TRRANGER Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Anybody ever know the government to do the Smart thing!
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I can see where law enforcement could be a big expense for the Corp because their improvements are scattered. I can also see where trash pickup and other things such as bathroom cleaning could offer the same problems. On the other hand if they were leased to the county the law enforcement is allredy in place and not restricted to boat ramps, ect. Cleaning could probably be part of the regualar parks departtment routine. They have used OUR money to build these and there is no reason, aside from no other entity wanting the resposibility, to cable them off. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

We could still use the marina ramp across the street but still, this would be just stupid. the marina ramp does not reach very far out, and when the lake is lower is unusable. bo
