Quillback Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I guess it doesn't matter if you end up #4 or #1 at the end, there's no home field advantage, right?
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I guess it doesn't matter if you end up #4 or #1 at the end, there's no home field advantage, right? No I understand that the hosting bowls are set. The advantage, which I'm sure most will scoff at, is that #1 plays no #3. I doubt that is really any advantage at the end of the season. Unless of course some teams sneaks in on a one win effort after playing also runs all season. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Feathers and Fins Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I still hate the 4 team scenario I really wish they would have done an 10 team but anything is better than a computer ranking people. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 The computer is probably the fairest, even if it's not perfect. I'm old enough to remember when the south and midwest didn't have the population that the upper midwest and the west coast had. It was a lot harder than for a big 8, SW conference or some SEC teams to get a crack at the National. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Jerry Rapp Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 16 team playoff. There are 32 bowl games. The 8 bowls who want to host the first round pay. The 4 who want to host the final eight pay more. The final four the same way. Championship Game ditto. College football is all about money anymore. Make it fair for the teams.....number 17 can't gripe too much. As long as their players don't get suspended or thrown in jail while making money for "their" college of choice.
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 The problem is that the colleges aren't that interested. Fans would like it, but it's not necessary to higher education. They get the bowl money no matter what the format is. There are some interesting games this weekend, maybe more than bowl games. Baylor & TCU and Auburn and Miss St, plus some closely ranked teams Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
BATCAB27 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I like the 4 team playoff. Better than the computer format. The best thing about college football is that every regular season conference game is huge. Basically every other sport you can win 2 out of every 3 games you play and make the playoffs. Not in college football
Feathers and Fins Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I have wondered from the first day they announced this new formula if it was not geared to start forcing teams out of their division if it was not a strong one or at least find ways to play tougher teams some way. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I agree everyone hated the BCS, but human bias is going to come into play and not always for the best. Ilike 8 team playoff as a max...5 conferance champions and 3 wild cards from the power 5 or non power 5 conferances.
Feathers and Fins Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I just looked at the ( AP , USA TODAY and ESPN Power ) polls and right now there should be 3 SEC West schools in the final four if it happened today http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings I would also throw FLAst and ND out of the discussion as their strength of schedule is week to say the least and I would move up Baylor and Alabama so it would still be based on strength of schedule 3 SEC West teams. If schools with a 11-1 12-0 don't make the playoffs because of a week schedule I am all for it, Lets see them stop taking on creampuffs and start playing tough schools. I would love to see as an example any SEC school lose the creampuff 4 games and play FLAst, USC, ND and Oregon. Lets answer some questions. And I bet if the 11-1 teams don't make the playoffs based off strength of schedule we may see the SEC schools at least lose those creampuff games and start playing each other more. I could see the 4 creampuff games traded to four SEC East school. Talk about a Strength of Schedule then. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
