Chief Grey Bear Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 As to the table fair I have seen them from 22 to 80 bucks a plate in good restaurants, I really like them myself and as you can see its basically a white meat back strap. What restaurants? Plus I'd like to meet the idiot that pays $80 for any plate of fish. Or even the $22. A sampling of trash fish, including gar: http://gwfins.com/2014/06/gw-fins-trash-fish-dinner/ From the article: "The dinner is $40 exclusive of tax and gratuity. A “trashy cocktail” pairing will be available for an additional $25." Trash fish aren't on my menu, but it only takes viewing one episode of Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel to realize that some people will pay for and eat just about anything.
fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 What was that old show where the elite Chinese/Japanese/whatever paid astronomical sums of money to bash a live monkeys head in and gobble up the warm quivering brains ? WTF is wrong with people ??? Sex with animals is illegal as hell, and rightfully so, but bashing their head in and devouring their raw organs is fine, and actually considered "a privelidge of the elite". Wow ! No explaining that mentality to me.
J-Doc Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 What kind of shows do they show up there at LOZ? Geez dude Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. bfishn Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 It was called "Faces of Death", but it was on VHS, not broadcast TV. You had to want to watch it. Given the broadcast options at the time (The Love Boat, Three's Company, etc) it fit the bill for 'something different'. I can't dance like I used to.

This is one of those specialty dinners. I was looking for more of an everyday on the menu type for $80. But it does give me an idea. How about Trash Mammals? bfishn Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Funny you brought that one up, that d thing still haunts me. These wackos had a fixture made into the center of a dining table that held a live monkey by the skull. The "patrons" had little clubs and hammers they beat the screaming little monkey with, then the maitre de sawed off the skull cap to serve the meal..., now I'm gonna dream about it again. :-( I can't dance like I used to.
