Members Ken Drish Posted August 31, 2014 Members Posted August 31, 2014 Hello - New to posting on this forum but have been reading the post and have really appreciated the details from everyone. I hope to be able to contribute as well. So let this be my first post.... I love to fish topwater! It was great hearing from various reports like Pete Wenners that the topwater bite was turning on. Went out yesterday and did really well, mostly on a Luck Craft Gunfish and a Megabass Popper. Lots of short fish but at least 3 keepers - all keepers were LM. Went out again yesterday evening and didn't get as many #'s, but got better quality. Again, with the Gunfish - all way back in the creeks. It's really odd that they are back there already. Today was a different story... nothing but a bunch of panfish who attacked my Gunfish... I'll try to keep posting on how I'm doing around the Holiday Island area. I fish most weekends - at least 2-3 days.
rps Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Welcome to the forum and we appreciate your post. I live in Holiday Island and fish the Upper End. Gunfish spit as they walk and have a longer glide. Good baits. I hope to go out in the morning and find a decent bite. Good luck.

magicwormman Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Welcome Ken and thanks for the report. I live for topwater, so it's nice to hear a few are biting. I fished in the rain yesterday morning around Kimberling City with very poor results. Had two 11 year old boys, who were eager to catch a few bass. We tried spoons, dropshot, and topwater. It just wasn't happening for us. We finally took them back to the dock and let them catch a few gills. Still a great morning on the water with two great young men. Good luck to all, Ken
