Al Agnew Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I've done that float a bunch of times. Always in the summer because it's a daylight to dark float and you need all the daylight you can get. It has two wicked rapids if there is plenty of water, and a lot of places where you have to get out and drag if it's normal summer level. I'd do it again, but I'm always a glutton for punishment when it comes to little-floated water.
Pat Magee Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 I have added this trip to the to do list for this summer. I did a trip on the Bourbeuse about this length and it was exhausting (even more so after the bite turned off). You keep thinking your almost there around every single turn but you quickly realize you aren't! Would there possibly be a spot to camp on this float if I was to break it up into a two day float?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 I bought my first trolling motor years ago for this reason. I used to put in Hwy 8 on the Mec once I got past Suicide or so I'd drop the troller and hit it. I bought the troller after getting to the takeout in pitch black one time. Joe Fagan was standing on the low water bridge with a flashlight waving at us and that's best sight I ever saw. Gavin 1
Pat Magee Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 I have gone back and forth about adding one to my kayak. I even bought a used one to mount up but I hated the way it got in the way of the rear carrying handle so I never put it on. It sure would make getting through all the stagnant holes a lot easier!
