BRANSON, Mo. • A volunteer cleanup of Lake Taneycomo shoreline turned up nearly 4 tons of trash, including broken docks, tires and several fishing poles.

The volunteers swept over 10 miles of the shoreline on the lake near Branson in an annual cleanup effort. They worked between a park near Forsyth to near the Branson Lakeside RV Park.

It good that people volunteered to clean it up. But its a shame that it even had to be done.

Wellll? Forsyth to Branson, 10 miles? I assume they skipped around alot. Therre are a lot of old docks giving up and at least one boat that is half sunk on the lower end. That's a good start and I hope they stay after it, the lake needs it.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I believe that was a Stream Team effort. At least I got the invite through email to come help out. If your not a member of a stream team I highly encourage you to become a member. Lot's of good they do.

How do you change Stream Teams? I'm a member of one in Central Mo. But would like to switch to the one caring for Taney.

Actually it was set up by Table Rock Lake Water Quality. Next up is to revive the old "Friends of Lake Taneycomo" organization. Ozarks Water Watch is the parent organization.

I belonged to Friends... we dissolved the non-profit years ago. The Branson TU chapter is still viable but inactive. That would be the easiest thing to do is to reactivate the TU chapter. I'm the president... all we need is new leadership, fresh blood, new ideas and it would go.

There has been talk of discontinuing the chapter though. Since new chapters in St Louis and KC have started, the Branson chapter isn't needed anymore.

The BTU chapter was started in the early 90's when MDC started talking about new regs on Taney. The chapter helped give support. Since then, the chapter has had trouble coming up with new ideas and projects. The old guard served the chapter well but most have moved on, passed on or lost interest.

So... I'm open to whatever.
