Champ188 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 HLS does not carry them. Checked both the Bella Vista and Rogers stores. I have some old Sidewinder flutter spoons. Bet they'll work.
Members ranger185 Posted September 17, 2014 Members Posted September 17, 2014 I've always bought the Dixie Jets directly from Tom Murphy the owner. He also has a web site basswishes.com. . Tom is a great guy and a heck of a spoon fisherman.
Quillback Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 HLS does not carry them. Checked both the Bella Vista and Rogers stores. I have some old Sidewinder flutter spoons. Bet they'll work. I just stopped by HLS in BV, the guy there looked at me funny and said that I was the 2nd guy that had asked about them today - you must have been the 1st. You're right they do not have them. The Dixie Jet web site lists HLS as one of their retailers that carry them, but apparently not.
abkeenan Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I get my spoons from LurePartsOnline and make my own. I invested about $70 bucks and have more spoons (flutter and jigging) than Bill's clients could lose in a year or in the upholstery in the back of his seat of his the Phoenix.
fishingaddiction Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Great report Bill, don't have any Dixie jets and according to other posts they are not easy to find. Will a war eagle spoon work? I have the drop shot and spin bait covered. Is this mainly an early morning deal? This is hard on a guy to read this kind of activity when you have to work! Thanks Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
fishingaddiction Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Good looking spoons Ab. I love your comment about Bills clients loosing there baits in the back of his boat seats. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Bill Babler Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 You can get those spoons at Bass Wishes from Tom Murphy as has been stated. The Dixy Jet is a more egg shaped type spoon and the 3/4 is under 3" inches long. It has a very good side to side flutter and it drops at the perfect speed. I have also used the little Cleo in 1/2 oz. but the jet is the deal. I replace the hook, and so does Tom, but Beck likes the Triple grip that is on it. If you are a jerker, you better replace the hook as the small bite of the triple grip will not stick. If you are a winder inner, without a hook set as Beck recommends, the hook on the bait will work fine, just cannot jerk it whatsoever. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
abkeenan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Since I made up my own I got to chose which hooks I wanted to put on them. I put Daiichi death traps on the small jigging spoons and then with the 3.5" and 5" spoons used a combination of owner ST-36's and VMC sure sets (ones with the one longer hook on the treble). Will be giving them a go when I get down there in a few weeks. All of them are good hooks.
