Members austin14 Posted September 20, 2014 Members Posted September 20, 2014 I was wonder your guys best flies are for bass?
Flysmallie Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Depends on when and where? Time of year? water temps? type of water? Lake, river, pond? Largemouth or smallmouth? Too many variables. Just like if you asked a tournament bass fisherman or if you asked a full blown trout fisherman, there is no one answer. I probably catch the most on a gurgler. But that doesn't necessarily make it the best it's just what I throw a lot. The simple answer; fish with something that resembles what they are eating at that time.
ness Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Poppers, Clousers, rabbit strip 'worms', Wooly Buggers, Dahlberg Divers. John
Members austin14 Posted September 21, 2014 Author Members Posted September 21, 2014 I Prefer Spring-Summer patterns in a lake for largemouth bass.
fishinwrench Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Peak popper season for green bass is right around the corner. Something BIG, Yellow and loud tops my list for Fall stillwater bass-bugging. That and a Dahlberg Flashdancer about 4-5" long (white/gold) or (chart./silver). Smallmouth streams require entirely different fly's, rods, and tactics IMO.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 It's hard to be top water when it's working. It has always seemed to me that LM like a lot of action and noise, but SM tend to like the more subtle offer. Not written in stone though. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
