I wonder if this will work in bluegill or rockbass

Posted

Hmm...might be worth a try. I don't ever keep anything I can't fillet. I find picking around bones when you're trying to eat the fish to make eating it not worth the trouble, so I'd have to add the step of finishing off the carcass into fillets anyway, and I believe I can probably fillet one in the normal way in the same amount of time.

Nope it won't. Wish it would! It works on trout if you like them skinned. I prefer the skin left on trout though so I just gut them and whack the head off.

I agree, but I leave the head, but a lot of people clean trout that way.

Seemed a little longer than 10 seconds to me.

I bet my late grandpa could scale and fillet a crappie or bluegill in 20 seconds back in the day when he was younger though. He used to catch 150 or more crappie before there were limits in Illinois and fillet them all himself.

My goal for cleaning Bluegill is a minute a fish. in reality it's probably closer to two minutes. No big deal because I almost never keep more than I can clean in a half hour.
