Kelroy Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Actually, I use a #1 or #2 EWG for small dropshot, even in open water where I'm sure I could get away with an open nose hook. If I know there's brush to hit, I Texas rig with an offset shank round bend with a pegged bullet or a bullet with the corkscrew on the back. I'm a snagmagnet.
Unimog Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 I'm a big believer in the heavy drop shot, bubba shot whatever you want to call it. Been using that for a few years now in deep brush with big worms. I typically fish this with a 7'1-7'5" heavy rod and 20# line. As far as the light one goes, my local wal-mart had some of the vmc spin shot hooks on sale so I got some to try. Basically the hook is between two line ties so it's free to spin. They seem to work good although I'd like to get some of the gamakatsu ones that make it to where you don't have to tie a knot for your weight.
Bird Watcher Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 It's amusing to me that when Black Bass fisherman discover an age old technique or lure, their entire culture touts it as the newly discovered next big thing. umbrella rigs as A rigs, crawler on a jig head as ned rigs, Jig under a bobber is a float and fly, and now bottom finder rigs being called powershots. I saw an article on Bassmaster.com the other day where Iaconelli was touting an inline spinner as his secret fall bait. LOL and SMH.
Quillback Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Hmmmm, inline spinner, I need to throw one more often. My earliest bass memories are of catching bass on a Shyster.
Flysmallie Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Hmmmm, inline spinner, I need to throw one more often. They still work very well.

There are hundreds of hours of TV shows by real fishermen with video cameras/cell phones that prove this wrong. Not to mention thousands of articles and forum posts on the internets from big-time fishermen with computers. John
