My Great great grandpa rode in the Missouri 4th. They finally surendered in Missiissippi. His loyalty was obvious. Another was in the Cass county Union militia, but that's fuzzy because many didn't have a choice and I don't know if he was one of them.

Funny story, another GGrandfathers brother, distant uncle, was a slave owner in Andrew county and also a member of the Union Militia. It was said he sweated a lot for fear that the yankees would find out.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Yup it sure is. At one time I had diary reprint written by a women who's husband was a guy who delivered things via the Wire Road, can't remmeber what they called them. At any rate they were southern, but to be able to work he declared support for the Yankees, but she didn't She was under house arrest for a long time and she documented it all.

The story starts around 1854 and that period up until Governor Jackson took the militia to war is more interesting than the war period in Missouri I think.

No not really.

There is a mill somewhere in this state I was hearing about the other day but I can't remember what media I heard or read it from.

Anyway this mill was built on top of the bluff.

There was no room on the river floor. It was quite a feat in how they got all the equipment where it was needed and maintained. I wish I could remember the name and where it was.

PBS 26 KOLR in Springfield has a lot of great programs on Missouri history of the area.

Gotta love pbs. We got both KC and Topeka stations up until a couple weeks ago, then they dropped Topeka. I gotta call and rag on them for that move.

PBS without the liberal undertones isn't too bad. But the teaching of the uninformed, misinformation ,has to stop. When the nature show said that there were animals dying of lead poisoning because of unrecovered animals being eaten by scavengers I called it BS. That was just a tip of the iceberg. Liberals teaching people that have no clue is just dishonest.
