He doesn't have the arm strength that those guys do, but that gets those guys in trouble sometimes.

I think it's hard to say with KC. KC doesn't have a WR that can fly and their #1 receiver could play tight end in a pinch. I'm not saying he can make real long throws, but I do think it's hard to know what his range is with the current targets.

People often dis a QB for a big miss when in reality it's a no option play that he knows is too dangerous to try and complete.

I might have had my Chief's colored glasses on regarding our QB. Smith was ranked 19th overall in 2013 and is currently ranked 24th so far in 2014. HANG HIM!

Smith is the best qb we have had under center since Green.

I get people wanting someone else... Who would that be?

That sounds like the ESPN bs ranking. The big hole in their rankings is it's based on how much the QB contributes to the scoring. If you have mediocre running backs a QB might gain more credit for a win. On the other hand if you have a Jamaal Charles he might not get near as much credit because a handoff doesn't count for much.

I think it's hard to rank them beyond the whole team, period. There's no doubt that P Manning is outstanding with a good team. In the same light is Drew Brees a poor QB? Athlon ranks him 4 ,I believe, and he's 1 and 3 in the win department.

Athlon ranks him 17th, which is ahead of Flacco and E. Manning.

My point is that it's hard to rank them. Each QB has his own challenges. Reid runs a complicated and ever changing offense and it's hard to predict how anyone QB would respond. Smith seems to be making it work for KC.

You guys are killing me, stats show that Smith is just an average QB at best, but no, stats must be wrong, he's great, he just doesn't show it on the field. Nothing he does is indicative of a better than average QB. Chiefs are 2-2 so far this year BTW, even their record is average.

I think Alex Smith is better than half the QB's in the league. I don't think he is Top 5 and maybe not Top 10, but he's Top 15.

OK , I went and looked at current starting QB's. In the AFC, there are 5 QB's that I would start before A.Snmith; Manning, Luck, Rivers, Brady, and the Date Rapist. In the NFC, there are 8 QB's that I would start before I would start him; Brees, Rodgers, Wilson, Cutler, Romo, Ryan, Stafford, and Folds.

I think it's questionable that I would start Brady over anyone right now. But other than that, I agree.

Yep, I think it's the beginning of the end for him. Not totally his fault, but that doesn't matter.

It's all connected though. Brady isn't the QB he once was, but give him an O line that can block, a btter running back corps, and better receivers, a defense that gives him short fields and an extra possession per game, and he'd be MONEY again

Brady IS NOT the problem in NE> I'm happy to see them struggle, but I'm not going to take Brady to task for something that he's not the root cause of.
