took another swing at big m last night. ended up with 8 keeps, but they were all just keepers, nothing over 16 inches. had 4 kentuckies and 4 lmg.

the spinner bait bite was much slower. bluffs had hardly any of the minnow activity. they were all on very flat shallow banks and a few back in the back end of some shorter pockets.

i caught 4 of the keepers on the 3/8 black widow with a nickle #7 colorado blade. the other 4 keepers came on an 1/8 crappie jig that is about to go into production. i put a 4 inch weenie worm on it, and fished it on 4lb. test line. these bass were all in the back end of pockets where there was lots of minnow activity and i could not get a bite on a blade. i was sure wishing for a handful of the old snatrix or something similar. i believe that something along the line of that snatrix would have really caught them.

i did this post once already and before i could send it, the power blinked and there went about an hour of typing. bass are on the move, but just where?? who knows. just have to go round them up every trip. if it were easy, then it would not be any fun.

Sounds like a decent night Bo. I remember the Bill Norman snatrix from the 70's, but can't recall what they looked like. Weren't they a fairly long worm with a swimming tail that looked like a snake? Why do you think they would have been the bait to try?

Bill Norman Lures was my first tournament sponsor back in the early 1980s. The Snatrix actually came in three sizes ... 3, 5 and 8 inches.

did not remember the other two sizes champ. seemed like the 5 inch was what we used all the time. there should be something similar in size and action if i took the time to look around. that snatrix on a light presentation was very effective in the right conditions.

Being a central Arkansas resident back in those days, I used it primarily on Dardanelle and other pools of the Arkansas River. Because those waters are murky, the 8-inch was my go-to size. Swam it weightless thru grassbeds and it produced some explosive strikes.

Wave Worm Tiki Anaconda has a snake head and a swimming C-tail. Think they just went out of production but can easily be found.

The Zoom worm you're thinking of is a G-Tail. It's actually patterned after the old Ditto Gator Tail worm of 70s and 80s vintage.
