magicwormman Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Does anyone know where I can buy a comfortable butt seat? I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs and 68 years of age. I can't stand like the young boys, but like to sit or lean on a butt seat. I have a 2000 ranger 462 and bought the butt seat, but rarely use it as it's so uncomfortable. I don't have a problem buying a new seat if I can find one that will work. Thanks in advance, as I know someone on this great forum will have the answer.
fishinwrench Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 It is hard for one man to say what might be comfortable and will work for another mans butt. You might consider stopping by a marine upholstery shop and having a quality seat altered to better suit you.
Fish24/7 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Is your current seat on a tilting base/pedestal? Might help some if it is.
motoman Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 I like the tilting base for the seat, where you can adjust the angle of the butt seat. Cause the butt seat sitting flat, digs into the back of my legs; no matter how I adjust the height. Tilting the angle and height adjustment allows me to get it jjjjusssttt right! Great for a long day of fishing. Cause then I can just adjust the height a bit and kinda sorta sit too if I feel like it. - I really found it to be a trial and error thing, finding a comfortable butt seat.
magicwormman Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Thanks for all the input. I love the room on the front deck that a butt seat provides. I may have to try some of the new products that are available. I didn't know about the tilt feature. My seat is the factory seat back in 2000 and is hard as a rock.
