Members Fly guy Posted October 22, 2014 Members Posted October 22, 2014 I was out on the meramec over the weekend and saw quite a few of these flies. I am wondering if this is a caddis, as all the caddis I have come across have been tan or brown in color not bright white like this fly. Sorry about the picture quality. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gp6botrr56znjlh/20141018_175617.jpg?dl=0
fishinwrench Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Doesn't look like a caddis to me, unless that is an emerging pupa. Was that a flying bug or something you got out of the water ?
Members Fly guy Posted October 22, 2014 Author Members Posted October 22, 2014 Caught it flying. Large numbers of them too.
fishinwrench Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Hmmm. Hard to say going by that pic. A drawing of it would probably be better.
Kayser Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Kinda looks like a midge. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Lancer09 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Kinda looks like a midge. That's what I'm thinking.
moguy1973 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Might be a midge -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 All the caddis I've seen in Missouri look like moths when they are flying and have tan wings and either tan or olive bodies. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Geoff Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Looks like a midge. Caddis have a very distinct shape to them and usually arent that small. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
Justin Spencer Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I think it could be a caddis, little tough to tell by picture though.
