Who on here is into waterfowling? Looking for advise and maybe share time in blind with where to go or rules on the lakes here? I'm a twenty year veteran of the north zone and will be hunting Truman and other areas as well!

If u are use to truman and the north zone you will be very disappointed withe the results down here. Taney is the most consistent bit is full of nonhuntable land. A boat with a blind is your best bet on taney. Migration days can pay off on main lake points on bull and table rock. Sorry about the vague post. You can hunt basically anywhere on bull and the rock with the exception of within a campground or commercial marina. Good luck scouting. That's the key.

As Jeremy said, much different trying to hunt on Table Rock. Among other things, there are lots more winter fishermen here than at Truman and they aren't used to being on the lookout for hunters.

Probably looking at hunting up the James or down Long Creek if possible around here and then I have a place a Truman!

I do alot of hunting up the James. Can have some really good days up there and there are a few well dressed resident geese that sport a little bling every now and then that hang out in that area. Counted 67 in one group a couple days ago. Sent you a PM

Used to hunt on Bull Shoals nearly every weekend and could almost always guarantee a limit. However I refuse to hunt there anymore, thanks to the new flocks of hunters that have come from watching Duck Dynasty. I've never heard worse duck calling, worse sky busting, or worse hunting courtesy. Put some thought into hunting teal season this past year, but 13 groups of hunters all within 50 yards of each other on opening morning gave me second thoughts.

I've hunted Truman before and it's a great area. If you are going to hunt in this area I would recommend getting permission on ponds, and hunting small streams when the ponds freeze. I've had amazing hunts on tiny creeks in this area when the ponds freeze over. For myself I will either be hunting in East Arkansas or sticking to ponds and small streams when I can't take off from work. No more Ozarks lake hunting after the experiences I've had!

Middle the DD crowd is all over its a catch 22, more hunters is good for our voice politically but bad for us in the field as far as the things you mentioned. Many of these new hunters have had little to no mentoring other than what they see on the shows and those shows to me by in large are not what hunting is about. I don't know the last time I saw one of them not get a limit and really cant think of the last time I didn't hear whooping and hollering at the shooting and seriously how many shots does a single bird need to bring it down I counted 11 on a recent show for one bird.

We as more mature hunters can take the time to try and talk to these youngsters ( I have tried but many have the entitled attitude or me attitude ) or we can hunt mid week or nasty weather day ( they really don't like bad weather days )

I currently hunt the Mound City area and the Four Rivers area as I live in KC part of the week but here on TR the other part. Have hunted ducks from South Dakota to Corpus Christie. I will be retiring here next July and will be looking for places here but more than likely looking for new friends to drive to Four Rivers with. I've come to know thru this forum that Ducky is the local expert.
