I just got a 2008 Bass tracker 175txw with a 60hp 4 stroke merc. Not sure what prop is on it, ill have to check when i get home from work. But after doing some research and looking at bass boat central everyone is saying that they are going 37-40 mph. I cant get mine over 29-30 mph. And that is with one person and low fuel. Any suggestions. Im hoping it is just propped wrong. The guy did give me an extra and i didnt even look to see if it is different

My tach sometimes reads 1000 when the boat is off so im hoping that is why it jumps around. How would i check the prop hub? i dont know a whole lot about it. I put the other prop on it today and went to Bull drove about 20 miles and the tach seem to read correctly, with the new prop on i could run about 32-33 at 5600 rpm's with me a buddy and a full tank of gas so im pretty happy with that

The tach should sit at about 1k after shutting the engine off but go to zero when the key is turned to the "on" position. That is normal.

You can mark the hub and then run the motor until you suspect it has slipped, then remove and see if your marks are misaligned.

for that year of boat/engine it should have a replacable drive sleeve instead of an actual prop hub
