jolicious Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 No need to go spending $15 per lure...... Just get REALLY BORED at your house, round up a few eye-screws / props / super glue, and in about after an hour of sanding/gluing/grinding/drilling/a little cussing (allegedly-I'm not copping to anything); you too can have some Redneck Spy-Baits Seriously, I was messing around last night with some blanks that I order, and I must say - I'm going to give them a whirl Friday morning! PS - I'll get that last hook on the 110-copy tonight - I left one at home.
fishingaddiction Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Good looking reproduction jolicious! Do the blanks you used have internal weights so that they sink slowly like the duo realis spinbait 80? If they don't I suppose you would have a suspending spy (jerk) bait with front and rear props. Interesting. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
jolicious Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 The top one is a blank from a Megabass Vision 110 copy. BUT - I finished it with foil, so it should sink slowly. The bottom one is a surface / wake copy (like a grown up Bomber Long A). I put the heavier hooks and also affixed metal tabs to each end in hopes it'll sink. If not, it may be a good devil's horse type bait. I'm not picky lol
fishingaddiction Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Cool. Let us know how they work out after your fishing trip Friday. Good Luck Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
dtrs5kprs Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Beats $15 all to pieces. Nicely done. Would think you could get them pretty close to right with some dots or strips. Maybe not exact, but close.
Ham Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I've got a couple of broken Megabass that I might try to covert into spy baits Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
fishingaddiction Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Where have you been Dave? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
jolicious Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 First test runs didn't yield any fish, but I think it may be because they baits glided (is that a word?) Back to me without any wiggle/bobble. I am going to either try a little bit of weight offset to one side, or may get plumb crazy and put a tiny bill in the middle of the under bellies to get a little sway.
