Quillback Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I launched about 9 AM this morning, usually I start at daylight, but with a foggy morning I decided to delay things for a while. Motored up the Kings, and found things to be a bit slow at first. No wind at all early, which always makes thing tough for me. Fished several baits, spinner bait, buzz bait, grub, square bill, tube, pencil popper and a wacky Senko around docks. Caught a couple on the pencil popper and had a few bites on the other stuff. I decided the jig seemed to be my best bet, stuck with it, and around 1130 or so started to catch fish. Don't know if it was because I figured it out, or the fish started biting - I always ask myself that question when a slow day starts picking up. Fish were on the 45 degree chunk rock banks in the 10-20 Foot range. Light bite for the most part, I was lifting the jig and pulling it forward a foot or two, maintaining bottom contact. The bite was usually just kind of a "mushy" feeling. Finished with 15 bass, with a 3 lb. LM as big fish. Caught some in the White channel also which was encouraging. Water temp 63. This fish spit up one of those minnows Bo is always seeing at night. Some of the maples up the Kings still have some colorful leaves left on them.
Feathers and Fins Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Very nice. I almost called you to see if you were on the rock or wanted to join me on Beaver, I got a great bite going on good fish on the spoon around open water bait. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
