WHARFRAT Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Went out for a couple hrs this afternoon. Took about an hour of frustration, but finally caught a few nice ones. Dropped down to a 32 oz jog head and a 2 1/2" slab buster, probably caught 10 overs. 4 were in the 13" range. All the fish looked like they might have over did it for thanksgiving. The bite was coming around 4-5' down. Seemed to like the slower drop. It's encouraging. @lozcrappie

fishinwrench Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Nice !!! If they are like the whites I caught today they are prolly fat with eggs. They are in about 4 foot of water also, right on the bank. Rocks with No Docks. No boat required. I think with the warm(er) inflows, this coming week is gonna be a blast !
Ham Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Goodness Gracious ! That looks like fun. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
WHARFRAT Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Might give them whites a shot tomorrow afternoon. You still using the sassy shad? @lozcrappie
fishinwrench Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I'm alternating between a Sassy shad and a 3" Larew Long John minnow. Same 1/8oz. head. Trying to decide which they like best. It seems to be a draw.
Ham Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I have a lot of things I like to throw at White Bass, but baits with one hook are a lot safer for the fish and the fisherman. Evr fool around with Road Runners FW? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
fishinwrench Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 No I don't Fool Around with Roadrunners... I get plum Serious about them (should own stock) The original Blakemore heads with a Southern pro CT grub accounts for darn near every crappie I eat. As for the whites I usually flyfish for them but here lately I just can't get them to eat a fly. They are triggered by a steady retrieve with no pauses or twitches and I think the pause between strips (when flyfishing) is a bite killer right now. They are following it for 10-30 feet before striking, and if the bait does anything even mildly out of the ordinary they turn away. Very "un-whitelike" if you ask me, but whatever. LOL As much as I'd rather be catching them on the fly it just isn't the right tool for the job now.
nomolites Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I have been having also good success on the whites with the rr heads and slider grubs as well as on suspending jerk baits; same places wrench mentioned with a bit of wind on them. Lots of fun.
