Eric82 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I am going to Montauk tomorrow and am going to try Tan Vat for the first time. Any suggestions on what's working this time of year? Was planning on starting with bwo's or possibly streamers. Also might hit up little piney at 63 bridge. Never been there either. Thanks!!!
fishinwrench Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 There will probably be an egg bite going on.
grizzly Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I would think that it is more presentation than anything. I would start with an egg(whatever color fits your eye) up top, followed by a prince nymph or a caddis larvae as a dropper. Tick the bottom every once in a while and I am sure you will be on them. Best Luck! Justin92297 1
Gavin Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Not much water in the Current right now and it's a cabbage patch above Tan Vat. The few spots with depth and flow held fish on thanksgiving weekend. Brown trout seem to be a bit scarce right now so fish an egg with something drab for the browns.
Eric82 Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 The egg patterns worked well along with copper johns
