rps Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Like many, I ventured out today. I cannot post pictures of fish as I did not do well. However, I learned valuable information that may help others. 1. The new Z-Man T.R.D. on their Z-Man mushroom heads work well together. They also will hook almost anything ... rocks, limbs, motor housings and thumbs fo sure. When I find out I will advise on whether they hook fish. 2. Water temp up here is betwee 49 and 50. 3. I found the owner of the white houseboat cleaning spotted bass and walleye when I came in. He reports the fish have begun to enter the winter pattern he will fish from now to March. He creeps along at .3 to .5 mph dragging a jig baited with a live minnow. His fish today were between 19 and 25 feet deep. Hope this helps you.

No weed guard on those Z-man heads which leads to a lot more snagging. Not much out there in the commercial world with a weed-guard, but I have started using these: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Keitech_Mono_Guard_Jig_Head_4pk/descpage-KEMGJHD.html Reasonably priced for tungsten, nice sharp hooks and right sized for the Ned.
Quillback Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 BTW, thanks for the report, it does help to know those fish are out there in the 20-25 foot zone.
5bites Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Thanks for the report. The water temp hasn't changed much in the last few weeks. Get the graph going?
rps Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 I am waiting on the backordered mounting bracket to arrive.
Ham Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 The Skinny Bear Finesse Wacky Heads at TW work also. They are a little less expensive. With help from friends, I've been getting CHEAP non weedless heads online. less than 20 cents each. I've all been able to get some weedless ones from a friend that is pouring them up. They are about 40 cents each. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
rps Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Ram mount? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BalZout_Electronics_Mounts_/descpage-BALZ.html
kjackson Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 That (the fish report) is good to know. May have to head that way later this week. Sorry about the delay in the mount. That has to be frustrating...new graph in the box and having to wait to deploy it. I'd probably screw the mount that came with the unit to a piece of plywood and use that temporary fix until then, but that's just me.
Fishrman Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Fished with our high school fishing team yesterday most first time on water poetry tough at eagle rock between two boats 6-7 fish 2 keepers all coming on jigs on rolloffs. Saw Mr Babler loading out at 11 think I know why. Good time anyway.
